The Trading Shed

Established in 1938, The Trading Shed is a much-loved feature of the site, open to plotholders and Garden Members every Sunday morning between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Staffed by a team of knowledgeable volunteers, it’s a great place to seek advice and buy a full range of gardening products, from organic fertilisers and a wide variety of compost to seeds, gardening gloves, fence posts, agricultural fleece and pest control. In short, everything you need to get the most from your plot – and at a fraction of the cost of a garden centre.

We also sell jars of honey from our resident bees, which is both delicious and anecdotally, the natural way to reduce hayfever symptoms.

During the Summer months, we hold regular plant sales at the gazebo from the seedlings nurtured in our on-site greenhouse. Here you can buy everything from traditional crops such as tomatoes, courgettes and beans, to more exotic varieties of vegetables, as well as flowers and fruit bush cuttings.
